beat procrastination - eat the elephant www.janeanesworld.com

It is terrific to know you can beat procrastination if you learn to eat the elephant.Procrastination is that thing that causes people to put off doing what needs to be done. There are a million reasons why people procrastinate. One of the most common is that the things that need to be done are so big that the tasks seem overwhelming. When you are faced with a big task that needs to be done and procrastination rears its ugly head, do not fear. Instead, stand up straight, chin up, shoulders back and kick procrastination in the teeth. You can do this by breaking remembering how to eat an elephant.

Take Action Now – Take a Look in a Book

learn to TAN in a book www.janeanesworld.com
It is magnificent to take action now and to know you can read a book to learn how. In order to get things done, one must learn to TAN aka take action now. All the planning, research and preparedness training in the world will accomplish nothing, until a person steps up and takes action. The following is my favorite example of the take action now principle.
Five birds were sitting on a telephone wire when three of them decided to go to Florida for the winter.
Question: How many birds were left?
Answer: Five because deciding to do something is not the same thing as actually doing something.

Stop Procrastinating – Don’t Let Technology Rule You

rule your technology, don't let it make you procrastinate www.janeanesworld.com
It is terrific to know you can stop procrastination by refusing to be ruled by your technology.  Procrastination is the thing that keeps you from doing what you need to do or gives you an excuse for not doing what you should be doing. One common thing that causes procrastination is technology. Of course technology is all around us and is something we cannot, indeed should not avoid. At the same time, technology is a major source of procrastination.
The following are a few of the common procrastination problems associated with technology:
1.  Technology causes one to get sucked into social media
2.  Technology with dead battery on things like phone, tablet or laptop
3.  Technology dies with no cloud backup
4.  Technology is used improperly

Stop Procrastination – Motivate Yourself

motivate yourself to beat procrastination www.janeanesworld.com
It is terrific to know that you can motivate yourself to stop procrastination. Everyone knows what procrastination means. After all, almost every school child has been taught not to put off until tomorrow things that can be done today. In addition, almost everyone has procrastinated at least once in life. For some people, procrastination is debilitating and people who suffer from it feel overwhelmed and almost hopeless. Those people should stand strong and be encouraged. Almost every person can win the battle against procrastination. The reason almost every person can win the battle against procrastination is because a great weapon is to motivate one’s self. Sometimes, there is no one around to pat you on the back when you have done a great job. At those times you must pat yourself on the back. Similarly, sometimes when you have been procrastinating and no one has been able to help you stop, you must motivate yourself. Friends and family members get busy. Self help books get lost. Smart phones get lost or have batteries that die. The one thing you can guarantee you will always have with you and will always be available is your own self.

A Week in Review – We Added Video!

Sunday Week in Review Graphic
For many people, Sunday is a day of rest, a day to review the  reading they missed over the course of the week. If you are one of those people, this is the place for you! This was an exciting week here on the blog because we added video. It was a fun process. The videos are all done in one take, no editing, no finesse, down and dirty. In upcoming articles, the videos will get better, more sophisticated, more polished. The important thing was that this week, I tried something new and scary and just went for it.
Here are the things we covered in Janeane’s World this week.

Work Life Balance – Learn New Tricks

learn new ways to balance work and life www.janeanesworld.com
It is fantastic to know there is always something new to learn to in the work life balance battle. There are always books, articles, documentaries and news reports on the struggle to balance work and life. These stories always amaze me because they are usually so drastically dismal or ridiculously optimistic. The reality is that it is hard to balance work and life, but it can be done. Like most things worth having, finding a balance between work and life is hard but well worth the effort. Most people work because they have to work in order to provide a living for themselves and their families. At the same time people want to live lives that are fulfilling, satisfying and enjoyable.

Learn New Ways to Run Your Business

When-it-comes

It is thrilling to learn new ways to run your business. People who are not entrepreneurs often think owning a business is easy. Those on the outside think entrepreneurs have it easy because they do not have to learn new things or do a lot of reading, writing and school work. However, for most successful entrepreneurs, these notions could not be further from the truth.
If you want to be a successful entrepreneur, it is important to remember A – B- L.  In other words, Always Be Learning. No matter what type of business you have and no matter what industry you serve, there is always something to learn. New players come into the market. Technology creates new opportunities and at the same time makes certain practices no longer useful. Successful entrepreneurs pay attention to things going on that have an impact on their businesses. You must look for opportunities to learn something new.
