Magnificent Monday - it is magnificent to not let them see you sweat at a job interview.

Each Monday throughout the month of October, will be dealing with the topic - "Never let them see you sweat." Last week was all about getting ready for industry conferences. This week will deal with keeping calm and dry on a job interview.

Most people, at some point in their lives will find themselves on a job interview. It is one of the most stressful situations  a person may face. However, nervous or not, if you want to get a job, you must go on a job interview and try and convince someone to give you a job. In order to get the job of your dreams, or at least the job you are interviewing for, you must conquer your fear and nervousness and get through the job interview without letting the interviewer see you sweat.

One of the best ways to be control the sweat during a job interview is to research the company where you will be interviewing. The more you know about the industry and the company, the more at ease you will feel. If the interviewer talks to you about the company or the industry, the better you will be prepared to speak with the interviewer. Additionally, research will give you the information you need so that you can answer questions and not just answer questions. Information is a powerful tool. The research you do in advance of the interview makes you a stronger and more valuable applicant.

Another thing to help you calm down is a realistic look at the facts:

1.     the interviewer thought you could do the job, that is why you got the interview
2.     you can do the job or you can learn how to do the job

What helps me to survive every tough situation is the bad cop/good cop evaluation. First, I look at the worst case scenario. In this case, what is the worst thing that can happen. The worse thing that can happen is that you do not get the job.  Well, cool. You do not have the job now. So you can deal with the worse case scenario. Next look at the best case scenario. You get the job at a great salary. Well cool. That is what you wanted to happen. This means you can do this, you can get through the interview without letting them see you sweat.

Once you leave the interview and you are back in your car, you can sweat. You can breathe a big sigh of relief. The interview is over and you survived, without the sweat. So, the question for you this Magnificent Monday is what are your tips for surviving a job interview?
