Bible in 90 Days Day 77

Bible in 90 Days Day ** Using the SOAP Method

Scripture

Luke 20: 20-47 to John 5

Observations

20 The famous, "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar"

21 Jesus talked about how someone with little giving a proportionate lot is better than a person with a lot giving a proportionate little

22 The first communion

23 The crucifixion of Christ

24 Jesus filled prophesy by suffering and rising from the dead on the third day

1 The birth of Jesus is prophesied

2 The miracle of water being turned into wine

3 Famous passage -for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believed would not perish

4 Many examples of Jesus performing miracles

5 Jesus says He does not seek to do His own will but seeks to do the will of God

Application

This group of scriptures is a re-telling of some of the stories we all ready heard. I think they are placed in the Bible again because Gid wants to remind us that every word in the Bible is important and we must pay attention to what God is trying to teach us.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, please continue to help me be the kind of person you want me to be, a better wife and mother. Thank you for your many blessings. In Jesus name I pray, Amen

Bible in 90 Days Day 76

Bible in 90 Days Day 76 Using the SOAP Method

Scripture

Luke 10 to Luke 20: 1 - 19

Observations

10 Even though Jesus sent His workers forward as sheep among wolves, he still gave them power to conquer and be successful in their endeavors

11 The Lord’s prayer

12 We are told to be afraid only of what can cast us into hell

13 Jesus prophesies about his rising on the third day

14 We must give up all to follow Christ

15 Heaven rejoices over one lost child coming home as anyone rejoices when a lost thing is found

16 Hell is so horrific, those who are condemned to hell would want warning to go out to those left behind to warn them to change their ways

17 When the rapture happens, people will be called from where they are, and those not called to God will be left behind

18 An interesting verse, number 19, Jesus asks why He is called good when only God is good. It is interesting because Jesus is God. This is an idea I will have to study later.

19 A reminder again that Christ came to save the lost

20 Jesus acted upon God’s authority

Application

This group of scriptures reminds me that we are part of the family of God. We are His children. This means that we have the authority and permission to go to God and talk to Him as we do to our earthly parents. It is nice to know that the God we serve thinks of us as those who belong, as family.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for being my Father, my saviour, a person whom I know personally and who is real in my life. Please continue to help me to be a better wife and mother. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Bible in 90 Days Day 72

Bible in 90 Days Day 72 Using the SOAP Method

Scripture

Matthew 16 to Matthew 26: 1-56

Observations

15 Jesus told His disciples of the problems, persecution and death he would face

16 Jesus asks, "What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?"

17 Faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains

18 We have power on earth to make commitments that are honored by God in heaven

19 Divorce was allowed under the law because people have hard hearts

20 It is good to know what you want from God and to ask for it as James’ and John’s mother did, but it is better to ask for God’s will to be done

21 Jesus continued to discuss the importance of faith

22 "Many are called, but few are chosen"

23 Jesus talks about how the greatest shall be least and the least the greatest

24 The power of the church is not in the building, but the spirit of God that inhibits it

25 One should always be ready for the call of God

26 Jesus tells Peter that Peter will betray Jesus

Application

My favorite portion of these scriptures is the part that says mustard seed faith can move mountains. This is one portion of the Bible that I know I live, I constantly look for miracles and expect the impossible because I know my God can deliver. I have faith, I cannot see how He will deliver and protect me, but my mustard seed faith makes all these things happen.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank You and praise You for your many blessings. I am so grateful and happy that you are my Lord and saviour. I pray that you continue to help my faith to grow and develop so that I can be stronger in my relationship with you. In Jesus name I pray, Amen

Scripture

Matthew 5 to Matthew 15

Observations

5 The beatitudes, Jesus delineates groups of people

6 Jesus advises that we should do our charitable acts secretly and that in return God will reward us publicly

7 Jesus tells us we will be judged according to the way we judge others

8 A centurion has someone in his house healed because he had faith Jesus could do it and Jesus tells us that God will take care of us just as He takes care of the birds of the air and other creatures

9 Jesus tells why He came, to save the lost

10 Jesus gave His disciples power over unclean spirits and the ability to cure sickness and disease

11 Jesus said that there were things God revealed to children that were hidden from wise men

12 Jesus is accused of casting out demons in Saton’s name and advises His accusers that a house divided cannot stand

13 We are all different types of ground upon which the word of God falls

14 John the Baptist is killed and beheaded

15 Jesus says that the things going into the mouth do not defile, but the things that come out do

Application

What this section of the Bible reminds me of is how Jesus talks in parables and that the parables are not designed to be understood by everyone, but instead are revealed to different people at different times.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for waking me up clothed in my right mind with my family. Thank you for keeping me safe and for being my Lord. Lord I thank you because you have given me too many blessings to remember. I ask that you continue tohelp me be what you want me to be and I will give you the glory, honor and praise. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

36 God promises His people victory over the enemies that had previously been oppressing them due to the Israelites disobedience to God

37 God brought a pile of dry bones back to life and promised to do the same for the defeated Israelite people so that the people would be a testimony to God

38 A day will come when God will protect the Israelites again

39 God will get glory through the conquest Israel will make in His name

40 Ezekiel gets a tour of a temple

41 The Temple tour continued

42 The Temple tour continued

43 The Glory of God filled the temple and the tour continued

44 God talks about how He wants His temple to be treated with respect

45 The people of Israel are instructed to be honest in their dealings

46 Instruction on how the sanctuary should operate are given

47 The sanctuary will be a safe place with flowing water that will nourish the surrounding vegetation

Application

This group of scriptures reminds me that no matter how far God’s people stray, they can always come home. It is wonderful to know that God will always take us back, but it is better to know that we do not have to leave.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for being my God. Thank you for being my saviour. Thank you for your many blessings. Lord please help me to stay on the path you have set for me so that I do not fall away from the center of your will and your love. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

25 God promises to cut off those who turn from Him and destroy them

26 God will destroy the people who are against Him and make them desolate

27 The price of destruction is discussed

28 God talks about how His people were blessed and above all others and then turned against Him and were punished for all the world to see

29 In spite of everything, the Israelites will again bloom and be in favor

30 Through His actions God’s people and their enemies both will know that God is God

31 God cast Satan into hell and that is where those who follow Satan will go

32 God will cast a net over those who are against Him and they will suffer

33 The wicked can be saved if they turn again to God

Application

Again, God talks about how displeased He becomes when the people do not obey Him and when how He will punish disobedience.

Bible in 90 days day 62

Bible in 90 Days Day 62 Using the SOAP Method

Scripture

Ezekiel 12:21 - 28 to Ezekiel 23: 1- 39

Observations

12 God tells His people that His word will come to pass and He will not prolong the peoples’ days

13 God talks about the failings of the prophets of Israel that have not gone in the gap and have not made a hedge of protection around the people

14 God asks why He should listen to people who have idols to false gods in their hearts

15 God says His identity will be unquestioned when He sets His face against His enemy

16 God talks about how the people of Jerusalem need to look at their failings and the consequences of those failings

17 God promises to pay those who despise His covenants and break them

18 God discusses how a righteous man can die in sin and be punished as a sinner and a unrighteous man can die in righteousness and receive the reward of the righteous

19 God says the lament should be felt for Israel because of their wrong doing

20 The Israelites came to enquire of God and God gave the people a history of their dealings with God

21 God says He will deliver the people into the hands of brutish men who want to destroy due to their disobedience

22 God talks about how the prophets have turned away from their duty and will be punished

23 God compares the people’s worship of false gods as whoredom and equally deserving of punishment

Application

This group of scriptures again describes in detail the great amount of punishment and suffering that will befall those who fail to follow the precepts of God. It is truly scary just how much pain comes from not following the word of God. It is incredible to me that the Israelites who saw God directly and experienced the plagues of the Egyptians and the parting of the Red Sea still could turn from God to false idols!

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for waking me up safe and secure with my family. Lord please help me to be a better wife and mother. Help me to be what you want me to be. Help me to be a better wife and mother. Lord I want to stay in your will and to stay away from iniquity. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Over and over while reading I was struck by the images foreshadowing the coming of Christ.

Father I ask that you continue to bless me, to solve my problems which I give to you because I do not know what to do to solve them. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Then the Lord put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. (Jeremiah 1:8,9). I have always thought it was wonderful that God would put the words in your mouth. With God doing that your words will always be proper, well tempered and correct. So often it is our mouths that get us into trouble and bring destruction upon us. If we could learn to harness our mouths, our lives would be better. Perhaps this is a lesson to harness our mouths and seek wasys to get closer to God.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for all things. I thank you and praise you. I thank you for giving me a mouth that I use in so many wonderful ways. I pray that you help me to keep my words soft and sweet in case a day comes when I am forced to eat them. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
