Bible in 90 Days Day 50

Bible in 90 Days Day 50 Using the SOAP Method

Scripture

Isaiah 1 to Isaiah 13

Observations

1 God is not interested in vain sacrifices, He wants obedience and will reward it

2 In the last days, God will judge the people and will give what is due

3 God judges and will punish the disobedience

4 At the end the city of God will be beautiful and those who are left will enjoy it

5 Those who are right in their eyes only will suffer destruction in the last days

6 God will allow the wicked to be foresaken and their cities to be devastated

7 The virgin birth of Jesus is foretold

8 Those who love God find him to be a sanctuary, those who do not, find him to be a stumbling block

9 More foreshadowing of the birth of Christ and how magnificent He will be

10 When Christ comes he shall carry burdens and break yokes

11 Because of their relationship to Christ, enemies will be able to sit together in peace

12 God had done wonderful things and his reputation is known throughout the world

13 God’s anger can move the very earth itself and he can destroy or bless as the situation requires

Application

This group of scriptures reminds me that the end of time is coming. All people will face the end of time. We will either die or be raptured away to God, either way, we will see God. Since we will all see God one day, we need to be prepared. God is prepared to see us. He is ready to judge and mete out the appropriate gift/punishment for our lives. Since our meeting with God is inevitable and cannot be postponed, rescheduled or canceled, we need to prepare for the meeting. God has given us His word so that we can follows his commandments and live according to His Word.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for all things. Thank you for waking me up clothed in my right mind with my family. Please help me to study your word and find out the proper way to behave so that I can be pleasing in your site and a proper example to my family. In Jesus name I pray, Amen

Love letters back and forth between Solomon and his love

Application

This group of scriptures reminds me that as Christian spouses, we are also lovers and should look after those we love and do what we can to keep them happy and interested in us. Solomon and his love shared long and beautiful letters of love and likewise we as Christian married folks should do the same.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for all things. Thank you for waking me up clothed in my right mind with my family. As always, God, I ask you to help me be a bter wife an dmother so that I can be useful to my family. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

31 The qualities of a virtuous woman

1 There is nothing new under the sun

2 It is good for a man to be able to enjoy his work

Application

This section of scriptures contains my favorite passage from the bible Proverbs 31: 10-31. This is my favorite passage because it tells you how to be the perfect woman, a virtuous woman. Everyday I think of or read that passage and try to apply it in my life. I want so much to be virtuous and righteous and thought of well by God.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for all things. Help me to be a virtuous woman, a woman that is pleasing in your site. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

19 Solomon describes how the righteous please god and seek God’s counsel which is strong and how the lazy, scornful an d wicked waste resources

20 Solomon describes the characteristics of people tha make them wise or foolish

Application

In this group of scriptures Solomon seems to extol the virtues of wisdom and talks about wisdom will get a person riches, happiness and more importantly, favor with God. This group of scriptures reminds me that in all my getting, I need to get wisdom. I need to constantly ask God for wisdom and advice on how to make wise decisions. Wisdom starts with fear of God. I have that part covered. I now need to work on the rest of the wisdom picture. I need to get wisdom so that I can run my home and business properly and have better interactions with the other people in my home and the world.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank you for all things. I thank you for giving me your word so that I can study and read and learn about you. Lord please help me to continue to read and study. Help me to hide your word in my heart so that I can be righteous in your site. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

133 David says it is good for brothers to live together in peace and harmony

134 David tells the people to bless God because God made heaven and earth

Application

What stands out in my mind about this group of scriptures is the fact that David praises God in all things. He praises God when he is blessed and David praises God when he is afflicted. David recognizes that sometimes he has done wrong and deserves the punishment or trouble that he has. But David also realizes that God is still his father and that if David calls on God, God will answer him. David knows that if he humbles himself, seeks Gods face, turns from his wicked ways and prays, God will hear David and restore him. This is something all of us could stand to do - praise God in all things and remember that even when you have done wrong and your enemies or circumstances fill you with sadness and despair, call on God and God will answer you, save you and protect you.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, as always I thank you for all the things you have done, so many things in so many ways that it is impossible to count. Lord I humble myself and lay before you seeking your face, turn from my sinful ways, turn from my wrong doing and pray. I pray that you use me as you see fit. I pray that you help me to see your vision for my life. I pray that you help me to be what you want. I pray that when people see me, my life, my blessings and how I have overcome that they do not see me but see you in me. I pray that people see the God in me and want to get closer to you. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Application

What this group of scriptures reminds me is that God is great and worthy to be praised. David always praised God in the Psalms. He did not always act as he should, but he always praised God and thanked him for his goodness and mercy. David never blamed God for his problems. I think that we as Christians need to praise God continually in good times and bad. We also need to call on God for help. Even when we are wrong and knew better, we should still call on God for help because He is our Father and protector and will help us.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for being my God, my Lord and my Savior. Thank You God for your many blessings and kindnesses. Thank you for being my God when I am right and when I am wrong. Thank you God in all things. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Application

What this group of scriptures reminds me of is the fact that God’s goodness is great and that there is really no end to the good things to say about God. There is no end to the things to thank God for. Often we are stingy with our thanks, praise and appreciation. I need to remind myself to thank God for everything because God gives everything.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank You for being my Lord and Savior. I thank You for my life, health and strength. I thank You for all things. Lord help me to remember to praise you morning , noon, and night. Bible in 90 Days Day 40

Bible in 90 Days Day 40 Using the SOAP Method

Scripture

Job 42 to Psalm 24

Observations

42 Job told God, God could do anything, God told Job’s friends to go and make burnt sacrifices to Job and God would accept them from Job. God restored Job to greatness and gave him double what he had before. Job was comforted.

1 David says a man who delights in the law of God shall be blessed and he shall prosper

2 David says those who do not serve God are angry for pointless reasons and will not prosper in the end.

6 David acknowledges that he is weak and asks God not to be so displeased with him

7 David asks God to save him from his enemies and says that if he has done wrong to his enemies, turn David over to his enemies and asks God to judge him according to his integrity.

8 David talks about the excellence of God and how God has dominion over everything

22 David asks why God has forsaken him and talks about how others called out to God and were rescued

23 David describes God as a shepherd who is a caring protective provider

24 David says the earth belongs to God and that god is the king of glory

Application

This section of scriptures strikes me because it is full of so many ways to praise God. There are so many ways to thank God for all He does and so many examples of His greatness. It makes me realize that I have been limited in my prayer and praise and need to step up.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your goodness, mercy, and kindness. Lord help me to give You the praise and recognition you deserve. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Bible in 90 Days Day 39 Using the SOAP Method

Scripture

Job 25 to Job 41

Observations

25 Job’s friend responds that if even the moon is not pure in God’s sight, how much lower is man

26 Job responded that we only see a portion of God’s greatness and that portion is tremendous in power

27 Job continues that no matter what, he will stay strong in his faith with God because without a right relationship with God, all is lost

28 Job continues that there are some things that are known only to God

29 Job continues to speak and says he wishes he was back before all the tragedy happened

30 Job continued and describes the depths of his problems and his current situation

31 Job says is he was improper in his actions, God should judge him for that behavior and that he has acted in what he thought were ways pleasing to God

32 A younger man in the group speaks and says Job’s friends were not able to change Job’s mind about Job’s righteousness so the young man will speak

33 The young man continues and says God is greater than man and that God shows things and man still does not know what God is saying

34 The young man agreed with the others that Job was being punished for sin and that on top of everything else Job was rebellious because Job insisted he had been acting righteously

35 The young man continued on in his condemnation of Job

36 The young man continued and said those who serve god are blessed

37 The young man continues and asks Job if Job knows of the wonders of God and the great things God does

38 God speaks to the group and asks them who are they to speak and what power do they have

39 God continues on listing powers He has that the people assembled do not have

40 God tells Job to dress up, man up, and that God will declare Job to be God’s

41 God declares that He is in charge of it all

Application

What this group of scriptures makes me think of is the fact that when you do right, you need to stand firm in your faith in God and your belief in the greatness of God. Sometimes when we do the right thing, it may be unpopular. But when we are doing the right thing, we must stand strong in spite of the opposition against us. What this group of scripture reminds me of is that we need to be strong and to stand firm in our relationship with God and our commitment to do the right thing.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for being god. Thank You for being my Lord and Savior. Lord, I thank You for being a protector and source of comfort and strength. Lord I ask that you give me strength to do the right thing and to stand strong on the right side of things no matte what the opposition. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Bible in 90 days Day 38

Bible in 90 Days Day 38 Using the SOAP Method

Scripture

Job 8 to Job 24

Observations

8 Job’s friends talk to him about what he is going through. They ask him what he has done wrong and tell him that if he was perfect, God would take these problems away from him so he must have done something wrong and he should admit his fault.

9 Job asnwers that God is great and that he cannot contend with God. If god does not take away the trouble there is nothing Job can do.

10 Job talks to God and tells Him that he understands that God does what God wants and that if Job is wicked, God should treat him as such but if Job was good Job would not raise his eyes to God and Job wished he had never been conceived.

11 Job’s friends responded to him that Job claimed to be pure but obviously he was not and should admit it.

12 Job responded that God does as God pleases and He can punish the just and forgive the unjust as He sees fit

13 Job tells his friends that he is not inferior to them. Job says God knows what He wants and that even if God kills Job, Job will trust God.

14 Job says that life is finite and that God has hidden Job’s iniquity from Job.

15 Job’s friend says Job is speaking iniquity and his mouth is crafty

16 Job responds that if his friends were in his position, he would not condemn them, but encourage them and build them up.

17 Job seems to be awaiting death and asks where is hope

18 Job’s friend describes the various ways the wicked are punished by God

19 Job asked his friends how long would they insult him and hurt him with their words. He also states that when he dies he will see God.

20 Job’s friend responded that the wicked triumph only for a short time and that the punishment they receive will be harsh and long lasting.

21 Job asked why the wicked prosper and have good lives.

22 Job’s friend responded Job must have done something wrong at that is why god was punishing him at this time

23 Job answered and said God has done these things to him but Job still follows God

24 Job says that people who know God sometimes do bad things

Application

The part of these scriptures that resonated with me most was how Job’s friends really did not know him. Job was perfect and upright and served God in all he did. Job’s friends never conceived the possibility that Job was in so much trouble because of something outside himself. They insisted that the problem was that Job had some secret iniquity. Often people do not support their friends in time of trouble, but instead condemn their friends and say the problems they are facing are what they deserve. Perhaps we should be more understanding to our friends and support them in their time of need rather than condemning them.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank You for being my Lord and Savior. I thank You for my salvation and life. Lord I ask that you help me to be a better friend to my friends when they are going through hard time and need support, not condemnation. In Jesus name I pray, Amen

Bible in 90 Days Day 37

Bible in 90 Days Day 37 Using the SOAP Method

Scripture

Nehemiah 13: 15 - 31 to Job 7

Observations

13 The people did not act properly in that they did not give tithes to the Levites as they were supposed to and did improper work on the sabbath so Nehemiah asked them what was wrong with them.

Esther

1 During a time of feasting King Ahasuerus asked that Queen Vashti come before him to show off her beauty and when she refused he put her away as an example so that other wives in the kingdom would not use her actions as a signal to ignore the orders of their husbands

2. Ahasuerus sought a woman to replace Queen Vashti and he found Esther (the orphan daughter of Jews) and she pleased him and he made her Queen

3 Mordecai who had raised Esther did not bow to Haman the man the king had advanced and Haman grew angry and wanted to destroy all the Jews in the land and had a proclamation to that effect sent out

4 Mordecai was upset when he heard about the destruction to come for the Jews, he told Esther and she told the people to fast and that she would go in to the king

5 Esther went in to the king and found favor so that he promised her anything up to ½ his kingdom. She asked that a feast be made and that Haman be brought in and she would make her request. Haman was happy about the invitation, but said his happiness was marred by the sight of Moredcai at the gates of the king.

6 The king read the history books and saw that Mordecai had done great things for him in the past and ordered that Mordecai be elevated in clothing and status. Haman’s wife told him that Mordecai being raised meant Haman would fall and Haman was told to come to Esther’s banquet.

7 At the banquet, Esther told the king she and her people were going to be destroyed and she told the king it was at Haman’s order this would be done. Haman drank too much at the banquet and fell onto Esther’s bed where he was found by the king and Haman was hanged on the gallows he had prepared for Mordecai.

8 Haman’s house was given to Esther and the king’s ring was given to Mordecai. Esther asked the king to take away the plan to kill the Jews and the king did.

9 The Jews went to war and fought their enemies and prevailed. Esther requested Haman’s sons be hanged.

10 Modecai’s greatness was proclaimed and he was second in power after the king.

Job

1 Job was perfect and upright before God. When God and Satan were talking god gave Satan permission to test Job an even though he lost all his children, Job did not sin against God.

2 Again God and Satan were speaking about Job and God gave Satan permission to touch Job’s body in an attempt to tempt him away from God. Again , Job stayed true to God.

3 Job cursed his life and said he it would be better had he never been born than to suffer as he was suffering.

4 Job’s friends came to talk to him and told him he must have done something to deserve the suffering that was upon him and was just to conceited to admitted.

5 Job’s friends came to talk to him and told him he must have done something to deserve the suffering that was upon him and was just to conceited to admitted.

6 Job answered his friends and said he did not know where he went wrong

7 Job said life was fleeting and asked why God did not forgive him for his sin

Application

The thing that stands out in this group of passages more than any other is the fact that Job was perfect. Often people say that there are no perfect people and that only Jesus was perfect. However, by reading the Bible I learned that Noah was perfect, Elijah was perfect and now that Job was perfect. What this teaches me is that we can be perfect, we can be upright, we can be like God if we follow His rules and seek His face. I am striving to be perfect in the roles God has for me as wife, mother, friend. How wonderful it would be if God could look upon us and think of us the way he thought of Job.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank You and praise You. I thank You for Your kindness Your mercy Your goodness. Lord I am striving to be want me to be. I am striving to be the Proverbs 31 woman. Lord I thank You, praise You, and give You the glory and honor on my journey. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Bible in 90 Days Day 36

Bible in 90 Days Day 36 Using the SOAP Method

Scripture

Nehemiah 1 to Nehemiah 13: 1 - 14

Observations

1 Nehemiah, a servant of the king, inquired about which Jews escaped captivity and which remained. Nehemiah prayed for God to help the Jews.

2 Nehemiah went to the king and asked permission to go to build in the city of his forefathers and requested the king give him permission to get building materials from the kings properties.

3 At Jerusalem, people built and repaired the house of God.

4 Some people became upset when the learned of the Jews building the house of God. Nehemiah again prayed to God for protection and recounted the times God had protected the people in the past.

5 People and their wives began to cry against the Jews and what they were doing. Nehemiah was upset that the Jews were in bondage and not redeemed by their brethern.

6 When Nehemiah had completed the wall, several of his enemies wanted to meet with him in order to harm him. Nehemiah’s enemies knew that the work he was doing was the work of God.

7 Nehemiah made his brother ruler over Jerusalem. There is a listing of those held in captivity.

8 The people gathered and talked to Ezra who gave them the words of Moses and the people made booths and kept the feast seven days and the eighth day was a somber assembly according to the manner of things.

9 The Israselites had a time of fasting and praying and confessing of sin. The people sing the praises of God for how he brought the Israelites out of Egypt.

10 A census and history of the people detailing their obligations

11 The rules at Jerusalem cast lots to determine who would live in Jerusalem and who would live in the surrounding cities

12 History and genealogy of the people who were engaged to build the walls

13 The people read the book of Moses. Nehemiah reminded the people to keep their obligations to God regarding the sabbath and marrying appropriately

Application

The part of these passages that struck me most was how Nehemiah kept going back and reading the books of Moses. It affirms for me that we need to read the scriptures regularly, constantly, and search them for understanding. Over the course of the last 30 plus days I have been reading the Bible everyday, sometimes more than once per day and one of the constant and main points that has come from my reading is that we need to read more. We need to search the scriptures and seek God’s face in his words. Our God is an awesome God and we need to follow his words, rules and regulations.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank You for giving me Your word to read and study and learn. I thank You for allowing me to learn about You. In my learning I have learned that You are quick to forgive and awesome in your ability to forgive. I thank You Lord for Your kindness, mercy and generosity. I pray that you help me to be the kind of wife and mother that is pleasing in Your sight and a proper example to my family. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Bible in 90 days Day 35

Bible in 90 Days Day 35 Using the SOAP Method

Scripture

II Chronicles 35 : 16 - 27 to Ezra 10

Observations

35 Josiah prepared and had a great passover celebration. Later Josiah went to was against the advice and will of God and was killed.

36 Jehoahaz (later Jehoaikim) became king and he committed abominations against God. Next a series of kings who did evil in the sight of God began to reign.

1 God stirred the heart of the king of Persia to build a house of God in Jerusalem

2 A census of the Israelites that were taken into captivity by Nebuchadnezzar

3 The captive Israelites kept the feast of the tabernacle

4 Judah and Benjamin wanted to help the Persians build a temple to God and the work of the people of Judah was frustrated, eventually work on the house of God in Jersusalem was stopped.

5 Prophesy was made to the people of Judah and Jerusalem and the building of the house of God continued

6 Darius, the king made a decree to restore the house of God, the house was built and dedicated

7 The people are permitted to go to the temple, pray, sacrifice and do good in the eyes of God

8 A fast was proclaimed so that the people could humble themselves and seek God’s face

9 Ezra learned that the Israelites were acting like their enemies and sinning against God in their worship of false gods and he realized that even though the peole were slaves, god had not forsaken them

10 Ezra prayed and went low before God and the people who sinned tried to get right with God.

Application

Again the scriptures tell us that no matter what we can go to God, we can always come home to our Father. It is nice to know that He is always there when we fall and He will always help us up. God is incredible and wonderful and such a blessing to us. I think what I got from this group of scriptures is that God is always there, here and around. God never leaves us no matter what we do. In the words of today’s rap lyrics,God is a rider, he rides for us and we know he died for us. But unlike anyone else ever, he rose for us.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for being you. Thank You for being a good and wonderful

God. I thank You for all You do in my life. I thank You for being a constant and not a variable. I thank you and praise you and humbly bow before you. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Bible in 90 Days, Day 34

Bible in 90 Days Day 34 Using the SOAP Method

Scripture

II Chronicles 23: 16 - 21 to II Chronicles 35: 1 - 15

Observations

23 Jehoiada made a for himself and the people to be God’s people and they broke down the house of Baal and appointed people to serve God at the appropriate jobs

24 Joash reigned and made repairs t the house of God. The people sinned and turned against God so God turned against them and

25 Amaziah began to reign and he did what was right, but he did not have a perfect heart. And after a few wars he set up the gods of the enemies as his gods.

26 Uzziah became king and he served as was right in the eyes of God. Once he was strong, Uzziah turned away from God and was punished for his sin.

27 Jotham began to reign and he did right according to God, but he did not enter the temple of God and as a result the people who did enter acted corruptly.

28 Ahaz began to reign and he did not reign according to the rules of God and worshipped Baalim. When he had trouble he did not turn to God, but sinned all the more.

29 Hezekiah began to reign and he did that which was right in the eyes of God.

30 Hezekiah invited other kings to come and keep the passover of God with him and the people praised God

31 Hezekiah continued to do what was right and to seek God and he prospered.

32 When Hezekiah sinned he turned to God again and as a result, the wrath of God was not brought upon hm and the people.

33 Manasseh began to reign and he did evil in the sight of God by among other things raising idols to false gods. But when he was afflicted with problems, he called upon God for help.

34 Josiah began to reign and he did right in the eyes of God. While he was a young ruler he tore down the false idols that had been raised.

35 Josiah kept the passover and gave his people the things to be sacrificed to God.

Application

What this passage of scriptures brings to my mind more than anything else is the greatness of God’s mercy, his extreme capacity to forgive and restore. No matter how many times the people sin against God and know they should not sin, when they call upon God, God is always forgiving. It is incredible to me. I do not have that skill at the present time. That ability to forgive over and over and over no matter how bad the transgression against me. I admire that quality a great deal. I thank God for his forgiving me over and over and over. I appreciate and treasure that gift.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for being my Lord and Savior. Thank You for being my God and accepting me as your child. Lord I love and appreciate the lessons you teach me in your word and I thank you for allowing me to participate in this read the Bible in 90 days challenge. I thank you for making reading and studying the Bible on a daily basis a hobby that I look forward to and not a chore I struggle to get through. I thank you because you are indeed a good, God. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Bible in 90 Days Day 33

Bible in 90 Days Day 33 Using the SOAP Method

Scripture

II Chronicles 7: 11 - 22 to II Chronicles 23: 1 15

Observations

7 Solomon completes the house of God and God tells Solomon he will be blessed if he follows God and will be miserable if he does not

8 Solomon reigns and continues to serve God

9 The Queen of Sheba came and tested Solomon. She found his wisdom to match his reputation. Solomon is the richest of all kings in the land.

10 When Rehoboam, Solomon’s son, became king he listened to his young friends rather than his father’s advisors and thus had a hard time as ruler.

11 Rehoboam ruled and followed God as David and Solomon and thus pleased God

12 After his kingdom was strong, Rehoboam strayed from God and suffered the penalty, when he returned to God he was again blessed

13 Judah stayed true to God and was successful I battle

14 Asa became king and had peace and when he went into battle he called upon God and was victorious

15 Asa is warned that if he stands with God, God will be with him, but if he forsakes God, God will forsake him. Asa stood with God and even removed his mother as Queen when she engaged in idol worship.

16 After 39 years of reign Asa became ill in his feet, but did not seek God’s help for a cure. He died.

17 Jehoshaphat became king

18 The Israselites asked Jehoshaphat to go to war with them and Jehosophat asked if he could inquire of God first

19 After the war, Jehoshaphat returned to Jerusalem and made provisions so the people could serve God as they ought

20 Many people came to fight against Jehoshaphat and he called upon God who promised him, Jehosophat would not have to fight because God would show his power among the warriors

21 Jehoshaphat died and his son Jehoram reigned in his place. Jehoram did evil in the sight of God, but God did not destroy him because of promises God had made to David.

22 Ahaziah became king and he did evil in the eyes of God as his mother counseled him and when he died his mother tried to destroy his entire bloodline.

23 A new king who would serve God was annointed

Application

The part of this scripture that resonated with me most was how Rehoboam, the son of the wisest man ever, chose not to follow the wise elders, but instead followed his young friends. We must be careful as we explore new technologies and new ways of doing things, we should not forsake old and proven methods of wisdom. We must find a way to strike a balance between the old proven methods and new methods and new technologies.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for being my Lord and Savior. Thank you for being all I need in a God. I thank you for my life, health and strength. I pray that you help me to be what you want me to be as a wife, mother, and child of God. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Bible in 90 Days - Day 29 History- Pay Attention

Bible in 90 Days Day 29 Using the SOAP Method

Scripture

I Chronicles 1 to I Chronicles 9

Observations

1 A genealogy tree from Adam forward is given

2 A genealogy tree from the sons of Israel is given

3 A genealogy tree from the David is given

4 A genealogy tree from the sons of Judah is given

5 A genealogy tree from the sons of Reuben is given

6 A genealogy tree from the sons of Levi is given

7 A genealogy tree from the sons of Issachar is given

8 A genealogy tree of Benjamin is given

9 The genealogy trees are gathered and placed in a book to be reckoned

Application

This section of scriptures reminds me that family and history are important. There is an old saying that those who forget their history are doomed to repeat it. I thank that those who do not learn from their pasts are doomed to repeat them. We must learn our history so that we can get the benefit of the lessons from the past. In my life, I try to teach my children about their history. From a young age they are taught about relatives who have passed on but contributed to the future. I think the thing I have picked up from this set of scriptures and will carry forward is that history is important, personal history should be studied just as world history is studied in school.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for being my Lord and Savior. Thank you for your kindness, your mercy and blessings. Thank you Lord for being all that I need and for being a good and loving God. Lord, please help me to be what You want me to be and give me the strength to accomplish the mission you have set for me. In Jesus name I pray, Amen

Bible in 90 Days Day 28

Bible in 90 Days Day 28 Using the SOAP Method

Scripture

II Kings 15: 27 - 38 to II Kings 25

Observations

15 Israelite kings came and went, one did not serve the Lord, is replacement served the Lord

16 The people again turned to God and offered sacrifices to Him because they wanted help from oppression

17 Hoshea began to rule and he also did evil in God’s sight but not as bad as prior kings. God removed from his sight all the tribes of Israel except the tribe of Judah. The king of Assyriah took over a lot of the land, installed his own leaders and taught the people the history of the Israelites and how God had saved the Israelites.

18 The Israelites continued to sin against God and were not blessed in their efforts

19 The angel of God destroyed many of the people of Assyria who were not serving God. The introduction of Isaiah.

20 Isaiah told Hezekiah he would die. Hezekiah cried unto the Lord. Then God told him to go back and tell Hezekiah that if Hezekiah goes to God and prays, God will add 15 years to Hezekiah’s life and deliver him from the king of Assyria.

21 Manasseh, at 12, became king after Hezekiah and he was sinned against God and God said he would punish the people so greatly that the ears of those who heard of the punishment would tingle

22 Josiah, at age 8, became king and he did that which was right according to God. The book of God was found and god promised to place evil on the land because the people did not live correctly and served false gods

23 The king gathered the elders and read them the book of god and promised to follow God and keep His commandments. The people again sinned against God and God had Judah removed from his sight. Kings came and went, and the people still sinned against God.

24 Kings came and went and continued to do evil in the eyes of God

25 Kings came and went and continued to do evil in the eyes of God

Application

This section of reading reminded me once again of the goodness of God. The Israelite people seemed to sin against God almost non-stop. Yet God still considered/considers them his chosen people. What this group of scriptures makes me realize is that God is not a quitter. When God chooses you, you are chosen. You may give up on God and stop following His rules, but God will not give up on you. God is awesome and forgiving over, and over, and over. He is ever hopeful and ever ready to forgive the people for sinning against him. In my lie, I need to be more forgiving with my family. I need to fully realize that my husband, my children and I are all part of a team and we are working together for a common purpose and goal. If any of my family upsets me, I must be even quicker to forgive them and to move forward with love, understanding and forgiveness.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank you for being my Lord and Savior. I thank you for your many blessings. I thank you for being my Lord and God an d for forgiving me every time I am wrong and ask you for forgiveness. Lord please help me to be a better wife and mother. Help me to be forgiving and kind. Please help me to have the spirit of Christ. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Bible in 90 Days Day 27

Bible in 90 Days Day 27 Using the SOAP Method

Scripture

II Kings 4: 38 - 44 to II Kings 15: 1 - 26

Observations

4 Elisha went to Gilgal and there was a miracle in that 100 men were fed with twenty loaves of bread and some ears of corn ( A precursor to Jesus feeding the multitude?)

5 Naaman, a captain of Syria sent word to the king of Israel to cure him of leprosy because of the suggestion of a handmaid. The king of Israel thought Namaan was trying to start a fight. Elisha knew that Naaman had faith god was in Israel and could do it. Elisha told Namaan a simple way to be cured. Despite Naaman’s unbelief, the prophet’s simple method rendered him healed.

6 There is war between the people of Israel and the people of Syria and great sin and famine and need among the people

7 Lepers came to the camp to be healed or killed. The Syrians were defeated.

8 Elisha continued to travel and where he went he was known as a man of God and what he said happened

9 Jehu annointed king and he proceeds to reign and is there when Jezebel is killed and eaten by dogs as God said would happen

10 War occurs and the enemies of God and those who sinned against god are defeated as God said they would be

11 Time passes and kings rise and fall, the people again return to the service of God

12 Again the Israelites are oppressed and again God raises a champion for them.

13 Another king of Israel arose and he sinned against God, the people were punished and again the people asked God for a savior and he gave the one. Elisha died. Even in punishing the people for their sin, God remembered his promises to Abraham and blessed the people.

14 Joash reigned over Israel and served God as we should and followed the rule of God that man should die for his sins not his children’s and vice versa

15 Again kings of Israel rose and fell, sinned and were punished

Application

The part of these passages that is most applicable to me today is the section about the lepers who thought when they went to town they would either be healed or killed and they made peace with either outcome. This section resonates with me because when I make decisions I always say, "The best case scenario is . . . the worst case scenario is . . . . " Once I have done this and I make peace with the best possible outcome and the worst possible outcome I know that I can handle the situation and I am ready to move forward. It was very good for me to find confirmation for this behavior in the word of God. I want to try to make more decisions in a sensible way, by praying about it, seeking God’s wisdom and moving forward with resolve and determination.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank you today for all you are doing in my life. I thank you for your kindness, your care, your concern and your guidance. Lord I ask you to help me in my decision making. Help me to make decisions that are pleasing in your sight and correct in their outcome. I thank you and praise you. I ask that you continue to bless me and keep me as I do your will and try to be the type of woman you want me to be. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Bible in 90 Days Day 26

Bible in 90 Days Day 26 Using the SOAP Method

Scripture

I Kings 16: 21 - 34 to II Kings 4: 1 - 37

Observations

16 More sinful kings ruled over Israel

17 Elijah, a child of God meets a widow and prays for her child to be restored and the child is restored to his mother alive and the mother believes that Elijah is a man of God with God’s words in his mouth

18 Elijah goes about doing he business God sends him to do including proving that God is the king of all Gods including Baal

19 Elijah continues to travel and spread and do the word/works of god throughout the land

20 When the man of God lets an enemy of God go free, he is told he forfeit his life and the life of his people for the enemy of God

21 Jezebel sets up her husband to be killed and because of her many sins, it is predicted that Jezebel will be eaten by dogs. Ahab humbled himself and god said the penalty for sin would not be paid during his life, but during his sons

22 Jehoshaphat was preparing for more war but sought the word of God from a man of God first

1 Elijah continues to travel and show that God os God and that elijah is a servant of God

2 Elijah and Elisha travel together and before Elijah leaves, Elisha asks that a double portion of the spirit of God in Elijah be given to Elisha. Elijah goes to heaven in a chariot of fire

3 Elisha travels and he is recognized as a man of God

4 Elisha continues to travel and is recognized as a man of God and is able to do miracles in the name of God for the people recognize God’s power in him

Application

What struck me most about this group of scriptures is that the men of God were recognized even in strange cities as men of God. Elijah and Elisha had reputations such that where ever they went, people knew they were men of God and that miraculous things could occur through them because they possessed God’s power. It made me realize that I need to live a life so that God’s power can be seen in me. Not so that I can be praised, but so that people will see me physically and recognize the power of God. I would like to live a life that exemplifies God so that when people see me they want to know, not about me, but about God.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for being my Lord and Savior. Thank you for your saving grace, your mercy and your kindness. Thank you god for being God. Lord help me to be the kind of servant you want me to be so that people will see you, love you and want to have more of you. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Bible in 90 Days Day 225

Bible in 90 Days Day 25 Using the SOAP Method

Scripture

I Kings 7: 38 - 51 to I Kings 16: 1 - 20

Observations

7 Solomon had vessels made for the house of God

8 Solomon assembled the elders to bring the ark of the covenant out of Zion to the tent of the meeting. Solomon prayed that God protect the people and asked that if the people sinned and then repented that God would forgive them and restore them

9 God appeared to Solomon and told Solomon that if Solomon served him, God would bless Solomon and the people with many blessings. But if Solomon and the people did not follow god, they would be cursed with enslvament and unhappiness

10 The queen of Sheba heard of Solomon and came to Jerusalem and saw all the great things she heard about Solomon and his blessings were true in that he was the richest and wisest king

11 Solomon loved women from foreign lands including lands God said to stay away from because they would turn Solomon’s head away from God. These foreign wives turned Solomon’s head away from God and God was angry because He had twice appeared and warned Solomon about this occurrence. God raised enemies to come against Solomon and Israel.

12 Solomon chose to ignore the advice of the elders and instead followed the advice of the young men he grew up with causing even more problems for himself and the people of Israel.

13 Josiah sacrificed to God and was a man of God while others continued to act against God

14 Various examples of the rule of Solomon’s children

15 Asa ruled properly in accordance with the rule of God

16 God is angry with Jehu because even though God made him a prince over Israel, Jehu caused the people to sin and anger God and the Israelite leadership continued to anger God

Application

Once again, the Israelites vex God. The Israelites know and know full well that God wants obedience and that obedience is better than sacrifice. Yet the Israelites and their leaders continue to go after false gods and to turn away from God. This fact is incredible to me because the Israelites know and know full well that God is a good God who is anxious to do well for his people and is vengeful and forgiving. It reminds me in my life of the things I continually struggle with. Although I do not go to idol worship, I do not control my anger and tongue as I should. This means that I must constantly ask God to forgive me for some slip up or another. In my life, just as with the Israelites, God is forgiving and true and always restores me once I call on His name, humble myself and pray. For that, I am extremely grateful.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for being my God. Thank you for being God and for your kindness, mercy, and gift of forgiveness. I thank you for being an awesome God, a true God and a true wonder and blessing. In Jesus name I pray, Amen

Bible in 90 Days Day 24

Bible in 90 Days Day 24 Using the SOAP Method

Scripture

II Samuel 22: 19 - 51 to I Kings 7: 1 - 37

Observations

22 David continues to sing praises to God

23 A listing of warriors and their battles

24 God becomes angry with Israel and with David. David asks for forgiveness, God intervened and saved Israel again

1 David was old and ill, one of his sons, Adonijah wanted to be king and David’s advisors were split on the issue. Adonijah began to reign but David did not know it. Solomon’s mother reminded David that Solomon was promised to reign next. David set Solomon up as king and Solomon did not harm Adonijah.

2 Before David died, he told Solomon to serve God properly. Solomon begins to kill various members of the family for their iniquity

3 Solomon asked God for the tools to judge properly the people. Solomon judges the famous case of the two mothers and the one child

4 Solomon ruled over Israel and he was blessed with wisdom and abundant riches

5 Plans were made to build a house for the Lord

6 The house of God was begun and Solomon is told that he will be blessed if he continues to follow and worship God as he should

7 Solomon built himself a house

Application

The part of this group of passages that stands out the most is that once again, God

forgave the Israelites and intervened on their behalf. It seems that almost every other chapter has an example of the Israelites acting like fools, asking for forgiveness and being forgiven and restored. God is so great and wonderful that no matter how often we screw up He forgives us and blesses us if we ask. I need to be that way in my own life. I need to truly forgive people and give them true forgiveness the way I ask God to do for me.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank you for this new day and for the new opportunities you have given me. I thank you for being my personal savior. Lord I ask that you hep me to be truly forgiving and loving as I ask you to do for me. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Bible in 90 Days Day 23

Bible in 90 Days Day 23 Using the SOAP Method

Scripture

II Samuel 12: 11 - 31 to II Samuel 22: 1 - 18

Observations

12 God tells David He will raise an enemy from among his people and give his wives to his enemies before his face. David’s son died afer David had laid on his face for the child’s life.

13 Amnon raped his brother Absalom’s sister and after two years Absalom kills Amnon

14 Absalom brought back to David

15 Absalom stole the hears of the people away from his father, David and David had to flee from his son

16 Absalom disrespected his father by taking over the kingdom and by sleeping with his father’s concubines

17 Absalom begins to make preparations to go after and defeat David

18 David begins to set up his army and David and Absalom begin to war with one another

19 The people said David delivered them from their enemies but fled from Absalom

20 Some people of the tribe of Benjamin went from following David to following Sheba, the tribe of Judah continued to follow David

21 After three years of famine, David sought the Lord and war continued

22 David sang a song praising God after God delivered David from his enemies

Application

The thing that stands out to me most in this set of passages is the fact that you do in deed reap what you so. David acted in a horrible manner, he saw a married woman, lusted after her, caused her husband to be killed and then married her. Those were terrible actions. Then David’s son Absalom put him on the run and made him fear his life. How different David’s life would have been had he not acted so with another man’s wife. We must be careful in how we act so that when we reap we are happy with the harvest instead of lost and forlorn.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank you, praise you and give you glory and honor. I thank you for being my Lord and Savior. Lord, please help me to be what I should be. Help me to act in a way brings honor to you and does not lead to me reaping bad things. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Bible in 90 Days Day 22

Bible in 90 Days Day 22 Using the SOAP Method

Scripture

I Samuel 28:20 -25 to II Samuel 12:1-10

Observations

28 Samuel’s words devastated Saul and caused him to lose his appetite

29 The Philistines gathered and talked about David and David was reminded that he had been serving God as he was supposed to

30 David went to war and during the course of it, David’s two wives were captured and the people talked about stoning David. Before going to recover what was taken, David prayed and God told him David would be successful

31 Saul and his sons died in battle

1 David found out about the deaths of Saul and Jonathan, and is distressed

2 David made arrangements for Saul’s burial

3 There was a long war between the houses of Saul and David

4 War between the houses continues

5 The Israelites came to talk to David about the war between Saul and David and David became king over Israel

6 David gave all the tribes together and brought the ark of God to where he was

7 David had some rest from war, and God wanted a permanent place for his people

8 David defeated several enemies and reigned with justice and righteousness

9 David searched for survivors of Saul’s house he could be kind to for Jonathan’s sake, and found Jonathan’s son and raised him back to greatness

10 David offered to show kindness to the son of another old friend, war continued and David was successful

11 David sent his servants out at Joab while he stayed at Jerusalem, and he saw Bathsheba and lusted after her and had her husband killed at war and married her

12 David heard a story about a man like himself and thought that man deserved death before realizing that the story was about him

Application

The part of the passage that resonated the most with me was the part about David taking care of the sons of his former friends. This part resonates with me because often my husband Darren’s clients offer to do something nice for him because they appreciate the work he has done. Instead, Darren tells them, "I do not need anything, just watch out for my wife and kids when I am not around." It always makes me feel good to hear that he has made provisions for my children and me. It is also similar to the love of God. He always makes provision for us, takes care of us, and makes sure that we are safe and secure.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for being my Lord and Savior. Thank you for just being there for me even when I do not acknowledge you or talk to You. You are a rock, a shield and a comfort. I am happy knowing just that you are and that you are a constant source of comfort and strength. I thank you for all things you do, in Jesus name I pray, Amen

Bible in 90 Days Day 21

Bible in 90 Days Day 21 Using the SOAP Method

Scripture

I Samuel 16 to I Samuel 28: 1-19

Observations

16 Jehovah asked Samuel how long he would morn for Saul since Saul was rejected by God as king over Israel. Samuel annointed David and David pleases Saul with his playing of the harp

17 Goliath of the Philistines, calls the Israelites to send out a man to battle him. David defeated Goliath with a sling shot

18 Saul became jealous of David’s accomplishments and favor amongst the people. Saul tries to set David up for destruction and is unsuccessful because God was with David. Saul was afraid of David and hated him.

19 Saul wanted to kill David and tries to get his son, David’s best friend to help. Saul had a bad spirit against David, that God gave Saul, similar to the way God hardened Pharaoh’s heart against the Israelites. But again, David escaped Saul’s plan to kill him.

20 David asks Jonathan why Saul, Jonathan’s father hates him? Jonathan reaffirms his friendship with Davis and says he will warn David of upcoming danger.

21 David is afraid of Saul and is on the run

22 Saul continues to try to destroy David

23 David went to battle against the Philistines and was successful

24 David has an opportunity to destroy Saul but does not. Instead he begs Saul for favor and obtains it, after which David promises Saul, Davis will not destroy Saul’s bloodline.

25 David developed feelings for Abigail, the wife of Nabal. When Nabal died, David made Abigail his wife

26 Saul again wants to kill David and is persuaded not to do so

27 David fears that Saul will kill him and as such, he should get away from Saul

28 Saul is told that God will deliver the Israelites into the hands of the Philistines tomorrow

Application

One thing that struck me in this group of passages was the statement that Saul had a bad spirit in his heart against David because it was put there by God. It reminded me of how God hardened Pharaoh’s heart against the Israelites. These passages remind me that God has his own reasons for doing things and his ways are complicated. God can make rocks cry out his prays so of course he can use other people to carry out his plans

Prayer

Heavenly Father, please help me to accept your will and to understand that all things work together for God for those are in your will. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Bible in 90 Days - Day 20

Bible in 90 Days Day 20 Using the SOAP Method

Scripture

I Samuel 2: 30-36 to I Samuel 15

Observations

2 God promises to honor those who honor him and God says He will raise up a priest that will be over hte house of Eli

3 God calls Samuel and once Samuel realizes it is God calling him, and tells him that God will do a great thing in Israel and also judge Eli’s house because of the iniquity of Eli’s house

4 The ark of the covenant was brought among the people and event he enemy was afraid because they knew it meant God dwelt with the people

5 The Philistines took the ark of God and God was against them so they knew they had to get rid of it

6 Six months went by and the Philistines still had the ark of God and didn’t know what to do with it and eventually gave it back

7 The Israelites went to fetch the ark of God and Samuel told the Israelites that if they returned to God and served him only, God would deliver them from the Philistines. Samuel spent his life as a judge over the Israelites

8 When Samuel was old, he made his sons judges over Israel, but his sons were not honorable and perverted justice so the Israelites asked for a king. Samuel tried to explain to them a king was not a good idea, but they would not listen and so God told Samuel to give the Israelites a king.

9 God tells Samuel to make Saul a prince over the Israelites

10 Samuel told the Israelites their history and Saul is sent out before the people

11 Saul is harsh in his judgment and rule against those who do not follow Samuel and him. Saul became King.

12 Samuel reminds the people that against his wishes and God they asked for a king and now they have one, but if they or their king turn away from god, things will be very hard for them

13 Saul did not reign according to the rule of God

14 Jonathan, the son of Saul had his first battle and with the help of Jehovah he was victorious and the Israelites intervened on Jonathan’s behalf to save his life

15 Samuel talked to Saul about how Saul was not obeying God as he should in his service as king

Application

This passage once again talks about the Israelites complaining and wanting to be like their neighbors. Once again, God and his leader tell the Israelites that what they want is contrary to the will of God and will be to their harm and the Israelites do not listen. We today are still so much like the Israelites. So many times God tells us and uses others to tell us that what we want is contrary to the will of God and instead of following god, we act like fools and contrary to the will of God. When will we learn that God wants our god and that if we act according to his rules our lives will be better.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank you and praise you for giving me your work to learn your wishes. I thank you for my church leadership and church family to help guide me in my service to you. Lord I thank you for the many things you do for my benefit. Lord please help me to obey your will and to be what you want me to be instead of what I see in others around me. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
