Love Home - It Makes Work Worth Doing

It is fantastic to have a good home life because it makes going to work worth doing. For many people the biggest joy they have in life is the ability to come home at the end of a long day and get hugs and kisses from family members. It makes all the stresses of the day seem worthwhile when you have a loving home to return to each day.

The movie The Wiz had a great song about home. One of my favorite lines from the song is, "When I think of home I think of a place where there is love overflowing." I always think of my home that way. It is wonderful to know that no matter what my day is like, no matter how many dragons I must slay during the day, when I get home life is calm and good. I will see my husband, my children will start calling my name, the dog will jump on my legs and the car will look at me. In other words, when I get home, I am welcomed back into the sweet embrace of love.

When a person goes off to work, to earn a living, time is spent away from the comforts of home. There are people all over America who are going to work at jobs they hate or at best only tolerate. The reason they do it is for the comfort of coming home. People go off to work in order to pay for the ballet lessons, karate lessons, dates with the spouse and wonderful vacations.

It is important to make your home a warm and inviting place. A person's home needs to be a place that is a place of refuge and safety. It is a good  mental boost and a step toward getting the right mental attitude at work. When a person realizes that the sacrifices, aggravations and drama at work paying off with a wonderful home  it makes work worth doing. The next time you are at work and are thinking about complaining about work, remember the home your job helps pay for and get a new attitude. So, the question for you this fantastic day is when things are going bad at work, do you ever think about the good home your job makes it possible for you to have?

Love Technology - It is an Organizational Marvel

Years ago I kept a day planner. One of those fancy loose-leaf books with a calendar, to do list, planning sheets and a section for contacts. I liked my day planner. Each morning I would review my calendar and to do list to see what was going on that day. Each afternoon I would carefully move items from one day to another according to the day's events. At the end of each year, I travelled to the planning store and looked at the planning and calendar pages and carefully chose the appropriate new set of paper pages for the new year. When I switched years and move the old calendar out and added the new one, I enjoyed copying the birthdays, anniversaries and important dates. While in court getting dates for future appearances, I liked paging through my planner and seeing how busy I was. I liked having a full calendar.

Then one day I discovered PDAs, the smart part of today's smart phones. For a while I kept a paper day planner and my electronic organizer. Over time, I came to trust my technology and put away the paper planners. I liked the fact that with an electronic organizer, my view each day was neat, my notes were always easy to read and moving items from one day to another was a breeze. It was so easy to keep track of things, to move things around and to see what my plans were with the neat text of the PDA. I synced it with my computer and printed out hard copies of certain information once per month.
Today we have computers, laptops, tablets, and smart phones that store your information on the device, in the cloud and between devices. For almost every organizational problem there is an application that solves the problem. I have come to enjoy and trust the organizational marvel that my technology provides. My tablet has my calendars, (each color coded)yes calendars:
* personal
* businesses
* blog advertising
* blog group calendar
* family calendar
* spouse's calendar
I like keeping track of each area of my life in a separate calendar, color coded by purpose. At a glance I know if I am spending the day on my own activities, working for my children or working for another. With my technology it is easy to separate my calendar into many subcategories in order to keep everything organized and separate but combined at the same time. My tablet has my shopping lists broken down by store type and purpose. I use my tablet to keep track of plan for birthday parties, school events and bus schedules. When my children are ill, I set alarms on my tablet to remind me when to take temperatures and when to give out medication.

It is amazing how organized technology allows me to be. When I promise someone I will do something, I put it in the calendar while I am talking about it so I can be sure to do the appropriate prep and follow through. With my technology, I am able to keep large numbers of phone numbers organize, up to date and current. I can keep all the resources I need for blogging, vision boarding or mind mapping in my hand, on my technology. I am simply amazed at how organized I can be with technology. So the question for you this terrific day is what do you love to use technology to keep organized?

Love Taking Action, Because Faith Without Work is Dead

I am part of a few accountability circles. One I formed with two women after a conference last October. We had some starts and stops and we are still working our way through how to make the group work, but we are working it out. I have another accountability group formed with two business partners. We are informal in our interaction, but we hold each other accountable and provide each other with encouragement and support. I have another group of women in a Facebook group that help me with accountability by asking me to share my failures and successes and pushing me on to succeed.

The thing that makes all of these accountability groups work is that the members all demand action. In each of these three circles, my accountability partners allow me to plan, to research and to think things out. However, none of them let me get away with stopping there. They all demand that I get up and do some work. No matter how beautiful my plans are, no matter how exiting the ideas I come up with are, nothing matters until I step out and take some action. It is required that I take action, that I move forward with the plans I have made. My accountability groups demand that I take action.

At the heart of everything that I am, is the fact that I am a church girl. My Christian faith gets me through all kinds of situations. A major part of me being a church girl is my faith, mustard seed faith. It says in the Bible, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed you can say to a  mountain move and it shall be cast into the sea. Another thing you hear a lot if you grow up in the churches I went to is that faith without work is dead. The idea behind the first statement is that you only need a little faith to get things done. The idea behind the second statement is that no matter how strong your faith, you must get out and do something, put in work in order to make things happen.

As you read these words, you are undoubtedly thinking of a dream you have, the thing in life you have faith would turn out wonderfully if you just . . . Well today is the day to just . . .  to do whatever it is you need to do to accomplish your dreams.  You know that article you want to write because it could change lives, write it. You know that idea at work that would improve productivity and make you irreplaceable, today is the day to share that idea with management. You know that parenting idea that would help you be a better mom and get your kids back on track, today is the day to try it. Let today be the day you fall in love with taking action. Faith without work is dead, get up and put in some work. So, the question for you this magnificent day is what are you going to take action on today?

Fall in Love with Work - It Makes Home Possible

It is fantastic to love work because it makes good things at home possible.

For many people going to work is a chore, something they do because they must, something they hate. As a result, these people start the day with a bad attitude toward work and continue with a bad attitude throughout the day. Imagine what would happen if instead those people started the day with a good attitude and continued it throughout the day. Instead of hating work and dreading the approach of each morning, make a change and fall in love with work because it makes home possible.

fantastic Friday, fall in love, work, home, possible, laws of attraction, karma, what goes around, right mental attitude

First let's look at some reasons to love what work makes possible at home:
  • it is nice to be able to pay the rent or mortgage
  • electricity is good
  • water is good
  • telephone  is service nice
  • a fridge full of good food is a wonderful thing
  • a full pantry feels really nice
  • it is fun to be able to go shopping and pick up whatever you want, when you want
Now, if you had a person who provided you with that list of things, you would like that person and be happy to see that person coming. So look at work the same way. The job you have makes it possible for you to create the lifestyle and obtain the quality of life you have created for yourself and your family. As a result, your work should be treated with respect and maybe some sisterly love.

When I was younger there was a song with the lyric, "free your mind and the rest will follow." Those words are applicable in the work situation. Get the right mental attitude, think positively and affirmatively about work. When you have a good attitude,  the laws of attraction and the notion of what goes around comes around means that you will have better attitudes toward you when you put out a good attitude. Get a loving attitude toward work because of what it makes possible for you at home. So, the question for you this fantastic day is, can you find a way to love your job since it makes much of your home life possible?

Fall in Love with Your Job Because Paychecks are Nice

Each workday, people all over America wake up, shower, dress and go off to work. Many of those people are not happy about having to go to work each day. Some of them even curse the fact that they must go to work. I am proposing that instead of hate, those people start looking at their jobs with a loving attitude.  Think about it. When a person is in love, the person is kind, considerate and speaks with a kind voice. When a person is in love, she does not insult the object of her love. A woman in love protects the reputation of the object of her affection. In return, she expects to be rewarded with love, loyalty and affection.

love, fall in love, paycheck, job, employment, work, appreciation, big girl panties, fake it, fake it until you make it ,dress

So tomorrow, try looking at your with an attitude of love. When you get up in the morning, think about your job with a smile. If your job is truly horrid and there is no way you can fake a smile, get dressed before you get out of bed. That means, put on your big girl panties and your fake it until you make it dress and smile anyway. If the job itself doesn't make you smile, the fact that you will be getting a paycheck at the end of the pay period should  turn your frown upside down.

Here are a few relationship ideas you can use to show that loving feeling at work:
  • speak kindly when talking about your job
  • dress up and look your best for work
  • do not engage in idle gossip about your job
  • act as if you are happy to get your paycheck
  • thank your co-workers for nice things they do for you

Just as no one likes a woman who has a good husband that bad mouths and cheats on her husband, no one likes a person with a good job who acts like a fool at work. Do not cheat on your job - give your job all the hours, attention and devotion you promised when you got hired. Do not disrespect your job - be courteous to those you work with and your customers. If you are not happy with your job, move on to another. In the meantime, learn to love your job because getting a paycheck is indeed a nice thing. So, the question for you this wonderful day is what do you do to show you are happy your job gives you a paycheck?

Stop Procrastination - Take Action Now and Succeed

It is magnificent to love what you do, stop procrastinating and take action now so you can be a success.
People tend to like to plan, to create plans to design solutions to problems and situations. I have a friend who has been planning a business for the entire ten years that I know her. She has notebooks full of plans and designs. When she fills up one notebook she copies the most important or best plans into a new notebook and plans some more. When computers and laptops became commodity priced items, she began to copy her notebooks into computer files. On the computer she would search the internet and plan, plan and plan. What she never got around to was taking action, actually doing something with her plans. She always said she would move forward with her business as soon as her plans were in order. As soon as she finished her business plan, her research and her development plans, she was going to start that business. She used the "I'm not ready now, but as soon I get these plans done" excuse to procrastinate starting a business for more than ten years.
procrastination, stop procrastination, take action, succeed at work, succeed at life, succeed, success, curing procrastination, move forward, get started, move
photo credit: photographphil via photopin cc
In order to succeed, we have to stop using planning as a tool to hide procrastination. Planning has to give way to actually doing something in order for us to reach success. Here are a few ideas to help you get from planning to action:
* set and stick to a time limit for research
* mark your calendar for when you will start planning and when you will stop
* find an accountability partner, someone who will pressure you to keep your deadlines and move
* once you reach the start date you have planned, start working the plan

It is important to remember that nothing gets done with planning alone. The success comes when you start working on the actual plan. I have been a procrastinator and I have been an action taker. In my experience, it is much better to be a woman who takes action. The principle of inertia tells us that an object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay in motion. In other words the more you sit and procrastinate, the longer you will be set in that mindset. When you start taking action, making steps toward your goals, the more likely you are to stay in motion and complete a task.

In order to stop procrastination and succeed in life, you must take action now. So, the question for you this magnificent day is what are you going to take action on now?

Love - Satisfying Work and a Good Family

Readers of a certain age will remember the movie Mahogany  starring Diana Ross and Billie Dee Williams. There was a great line in the movie where Billie Dee's character told Diana Ross' character that all her success at work meant nothing if she had no one at home with whom to share it. For me, having a loving, caring family at home to share my successes and accomplishments is more valuable than the accomplishments and successes.
I like to call myself a Proverbs Wife. For those not familiar with the Bible, this is the wife described in Proverbs 31, verses 10 to 31. She is a wonderful woman who has it all together. Here are a few of her qualities:
  • she is more precious than rubies
  • she is trusted by her husband
  • she keeps her home adequately supplied
  • she is strong and in good physical shape
  • she dresses beautifully
  • she operates businesses
  • she is honorable
  • she has a reputation for virtue
  • she has a good reputation that proceeds her

When you look at that list, you see a woman who has satisfying work and a good family. She has qualities that make her valuable in the workplace and in the home. A person does not have to share the Christian faith to think a woman possessing all these qualities is a woman to be admired and respected.

One should always strive to be a person who is admired and respected. It is important to put forth one's best efforts at work. An employee is duty bound, honor bound and required to put forth her best efforts in the workplace. When carrying out tasks at work one should plan out the day to be sure that all important tasks get done properly and in a timely manner. This statement remains the same whether you work for a Fortune 500 company or  for your family.  At the same time when you are the member of a family you must take care to show your family that family is important, precious and valuable to you. The tasks that need to be done in a home should be carried out with diligence, dedication and a determination to get the job done fully and completely. All work done inside and outside the home has value, importance and is deserving of our best efforts.

Satisfying work and a good family are things that are highly desired. There are many people who have work but no family. I have a friend who has a wonderful job that she does well and where she is seen as model of success. She cries herself to sleep many nights because she wants to be a wife and mother and is having trouble getting dates. I have other friends who have wonderful husbands and terrific children but cry themselves to sleep because they want work outside the home and cannot find it. Please keep in mind this is not to say that having both is the ideal or that every woman should strive to be a success in the workplace and in the home. There are many women who are happy and satisfied with having one or the other. That is a beautiful thing and a good and valued choice and a choice that should be respected.

I want to celebrate the fact that it is a fantastic thing to have satisfying work and a good family. So, the question for you this fantastic day is, if you are a woman with satisfying work and a good family do you show your appreciation for those blessings?

New Look at Business - Be on the Lookout

It is thrilling to find a way to take a new look at your business by being on the lookout.

When running a business, no matter how well the tried and  true methods are working, it is important for an entrepreneur to be on the lookout for new ways to do things. When looking at new ways to improve business,  the entrepreneur should be look at a variety of things including:

In addition, an entrepreneur should generally be on the lookout. Lookout is commonly defined as careful looking or watching. On the lookout for what? Everything. As a business owner you have to pay attention to everything in your business. On a regular basis you must look at:
  • income
  • expenses
  • employee salaries
  • supply costs
  • money due to the business
  • money the business owes to others
  • sticking to the business plan
  • opportunities to network with others
An entrepreneur, particularly an entrepreneur with employees you have a responsibility and an obligation to use your best efforts to make your business a success. There are people depending on your business continuing to exist. The following is a small listing of the people who are depending on you:
  • your family (income)
  • employees (ability to support their families)
  • landlord (depends upon rental income)
  • your suppliers (their business depends upon your orders)
  • businesses located in your area (empty office space detracts from the existing businesses)
It is important to pay attention to what is going on in all areas of your business so that you can operate from a point of strength and knowledge rather than always being on emergency alert putting out one fire after another. When an entrepreneur is steadily on the lookout for what is going on with the business fewer things slip through the cracks. Mark your calendar so that you look at each of the items in you lookout for on a regular basis. However it is important to realize that looking out is not a passive activity. Entrepreneurs must do something with the information obtained. Keep records of the information obtained. Put the information in writing either a hard copy or electronically so that you are able to follow trends.  So, the question for you this thrilling day is what are you on the lookout for with your business?
