Sensational Saturday - it is sensational to curl up with the Good Book and learn you are awesome!
Each Sensational Saturday throughout the month of November I will be sharing some of my favorite books with you. I am a bibliophile, that means I am a lover of books. I have more than a thousand books on my office shelves. I have at least that many on the shelves, tables and floors of my house. Then there is my Kindle 3G that has more than 3,000 books. I really like books. So for a book to make the list and be included in the November Sensational Saturday series, they have to have stood the test of time and be special in my heart.
Over the course of the next few Sensational Saturdays, I will share the following books with you:
- The Bible by God
- The Bourne Identity by Robert Ludlum
- The Collected Works of Langston Hughes by Langston Hughes
- Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison
I would like to share my favorites with you and to have you share some of your favorites as well.
I am a Christian wife and mother before all else. Therefore it probably come as no surprise to you that my favorite book of all times is the Bible. No matter how many times I read it, I see something new and understand something a little better or find a new way to apply what I read. My favorite piece of the Bible is Proverbs 31: 10-31. It talks about the most treasured, most precious woman. She is often referred to as the Proverbs Wife.
I am sharing the words from Proverbs 31: 10-31 with you here. I challenge you to read these words and not be impressed with this woman.

10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
14 She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates
Let's look at this woman objectively so I can share with you why I am so impressed with her. First of all you are told right from the door that she is virtuous which means she has or show she has high moral standards. In the same sentence you are told she is worth more than precious jewels. She is trustworthy and he husband can depend upon her without fear. The virtuous woman works and makes good decisions regarding her finances. She keeps her household well stocked and she stays in good physical health. This woman dresses beautifully and in fine attire. She spreads only good thoughts about her husband out in the world. The words that come forth from her mouth are wise and she is known for her kind words. There are all kinds of good and wonderful women, but the Proverbs Wife is better than them all. She earns her pay and her reputation speaks for itself. This woman was amazing back when these words were originally written and she is amazing today.
The Bible is my favorite book because it is full of passages like this one that pick me up and give me strength and courage when I need it. It is my favorite book because I never tire of reading it and I enjoy the words each time. This is a book that makes me happy to be me because reading it makes me feel loved and surrounded by comfort and comforters. It is sensational to curl up in bed with the Good Book and spend a little time. So the question for you this Sensational Saturday is what is a book that stands
