Wonderful Wednesday -it is wonderful to step out on faith and start a business.
According to the Bible, "faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Each Wonderful Wednesday throughout the month of November will be dedicated to the idea of stepping out on faith and doing something big. Upcoming Wonderful Wednesdays will deal with creating blog, writing an e-book, and stepping out into the unknown. This Wonderful Wednesday is about stepping out on faith and starting a business.
There are many people who go to work each day and dream of starting businesses of their own. Then they come at the end of the work day and prepare to start again the next day. There are people who have good ideas for businesses and have products or services that would be profitable and life enhancing. With all this in mind, a person might ask why then, are these people not opening businesses and providing their products, services and potentially jobs to the public. One reason is that starting a business is a scary thing and success is not guaranteed. It takes something special to step out and start a business enterprise. It requires one to step out on faith, to move forward with a business enterprise. But, if you are working for someone else and have an idea for a business, step out on faith and make it happen.
Stepping out on faith does not mean you move forward willy-nilly without a plan. Quite the contrary is true. If you are stepping out on faith to start a business, it makes sense to order your steps, to create a plan of action. If you are going to take this opportunity to step out on faith and start a business, create a business plan and move forward. If you do not know how to write a business plan, read my Thrilling Thursday series this month which is all about writing business plans. Last week's article dealt with the business plan's purpose statement, executive summary and business information. This week will deal with personnel and organization. Follow the plan and you will have a complete business plan by the end of the month! Step out on faith and start planning your business.
Stepping out on faith does not mean you should go into work today and give two weeks notice that you are leaving your job. It is not financially practical for most people to quit work on Monday and start a new business on Tuesday without prior preparation. Many businesses can be started while you are still employed by another person. For example, you can work on your business plan after work, on your lunch breaks and on your days off from work. The forms that you need to complete and file with local, state and federal authorities can be filled out during those time periods as well. Many businesses may also be worked while you are working for another person. None of this is easy, but the reality is that nothing in life that is worth having is easy or work free! Being a business owner is hard work. If you are not willing to start putting in the work while you are working for someone else, you will have to question your faith and stamina to make a business enterprise a success.
Stepping out on faith means that the road to success may not be guaranteed, but you go forward because you hope it will, even though there is no concrete evidence of the success to come. Stepping out on faith means you take action now and start doing the work to make the business of your dreams, the business of your reality. So the question for you this Wonderful Wednesday is, what is there in your dreams that you are going to step out on faith to make a reality?
