Balancing Home and Work By Sharing Stories

Many people go to work each day, perform their duties and then come home to their families and never talk about work. Similarly, many people go to work each day and share nothing of their personal lives with their co-workers. On the surface, this may seem like a good way of doing things, keeping work and home in separate categories. However, things are not always what they seem. By keeping work and home in separate categories that never intermingle a person keeps her life out of balance. There are a wide variety of ways to keep work and home in balance including:
Another way to strike a balance between work and home is to share happy stories from work when you are at home.

When you work outside the home, there are two parts to your existence, the work you and the home you. It is an extremely hard and in most cases unnecessary task to keep the two separated.People go to work for many reasons including:
  • for personal fulfillment and growth
  • to earn money to provide for family
  • in order to carry out a mission
  • to meet professional responsibilities
  • to earn money to carry out one's true purpose in life

Whatever the reason for one going to work, it is a significant part of one's life in chief part because of the large amount of time spent at work. It is only natural for family members, children in particular to be curious about what a person does at work. All too often, family members only hear stories about work when there is a problem or something goes wrong. This gives a false and perhaps one-sided or imbalanced view of the workplace. It is a better practice to share good stories from work with the family. This way of doing things will make children feel there is something good to be gained from going to work. It may also encourage children to want to seek work and independence when they reach maturity.

With all things balance is important. As a result, when you share happy stories about work with your family, it keeps them from resenting the place that keeps you away from them for so many hours each day. Additionally, it is good to model a happy workplace for your children. It may also help you to feel better about yourself and your work if you find a happy thing to share with your family members each day. In your life, look to achieve balance between work and home by sharing happy work stories with your family. So, the question for you this fantastic day is do you share happy work stories with your family?
