Bible in 90 Days Day 23

Bible in 90 Days Day 23 Using the SOAP Method

Scripture

II Samuel 12: 11 - 31 to II Samuel 22: 1 - 18

Observations

12 God tells David He will raise an enemy from among his people and give his wives to his enemies before his face. David’s son died afer David had laid on his face for the child’s life.

13 Amnon raped his brother Absalom’s sister and after two years Absalom kills Amnon

14 Absalom brought back to David

15 Absalom stole the hears of the people away from his father, David and David had to flee from his son

16 Absalom disrespected his father by taking over the kingdom and by sleeping with his father’s concubines

17 Absalom begins to make preparations to go after and defeat David

18 David begins to set up his army and David and Absalom begin to war with one another

19 The people said David delivered them from their enemies but fled from Absalom

20 Some people of the tribe of Benjamin went from following David to following Sheba, the tribe of Judah continued to follow David

21 After three years of famine, David sought the Lord and war continued

22 David sang a song praising God after God delivered David from his enemies

Application

The thing that stands out to me most in this set of passages is the fact that you do in deed reap what you so. David acted in a horrible manner, he saw a married woman, lusted after her, caused her husband to be killed and then married her. Those were terrible actions. Then David’s son Absalom put him on the run and made him fear his life. How different David’s life would have been had he not acted so with another man’s wife. We must be careful in how we act so that when we reap we are happy with the harvest instead of lost and forlorn.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank you, praise you and give you glory and honor. I thank you for being my Lord and Savior. Lord, please help me to be what I should be. Help me to act in a way brings honor to you and does not lead to me reaping bad things. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
