Creating Confidence Webinar 8/24/16 at 1pm EST
Join us on August 24, 2016 for a 30-minute webinar that will change your life!
You can create all the confidence you need before you leave bed in the morning.
One of the most important things to keep in mind when it comes to confidence is that it is not a question of whether or not you can be confident. You can be confident if you choose it.
Confidence sometimes comes and goes. Confidence is something that you can renew moment by moment and day by day. Join us and we will show you how.
Creating Confidence - You Can Do It
This article is about getting dressed with confidence feeling confident before you get out of bed each morning. This article is the first in a new series on creating confidence. I started my blog, Janeane's World in part because I was trying to find a way to put myself in the right mental frame of mind at the start of each day. I had a husband, four children and a dog. My days were busy and stressful so I started a new blog full of motivational paragraphs. I wrote positive things each day in order to talk myself into having a good day. Each day I would post a happy status on social networking sites to guide my behavior for the day. I named the days as follows: Serene Sunday, Magnificent Monday, Terrific Tuesday, Wonderful Wednesday, Thrilling Thursday, Fantastic Friday and Sensational Saturday . Over the course of time, those motivational sentences became paragraphs, blog posts and articles. Now those articles have turned into books, webinars and e-courses. . Over the course of time, those motivational sentences became paragraphs, blog posts and articles. Now those articles have turned into books, webinars and e-courses.
As the articles in this series will indicate, confidence is not some mysterious thing that only the successful people have. Confidence is something every person can have if she so chooses. One of the first things you must do if you want to have an attitude of confidence is look at each day as a new opportunity to shine and accomplish great and wonderful things. In order to do that, I have renamed all the days. Instead of merely calling each day by its name, I attach an adjective to each day. The adjectives give a sense of expectation to each day. The adjectives encourage you to behave in a way that will make the adjectives come true. Here is what I call each day:is look at each day as a new opportunity to shine and accomplish great and wonderful things. In order to do that, I have renamed all the days. Serene Sunday
Think about it for a moment. If you think of Monday as Magnificent Monday, you expect something really great to happen. Simply adding that adjective will cause you to look for, expect and attempt to do magnificent things. Last week Monday was the day that forced you back to work after the weekend ended. This week you have Magnificent Monday and you are going to look for magnificent things to celebrate. You will be reminded that magnificent things come in packages of all sizes. The magnificent thing may be a new promotion at work. Or the magnificent thing may be that you got to work on time and had a great cup of coffee to start the day.

Find Serenity and Joy With Strong Household Traditions
With just a little effort, you can create household traditions that will make life easier and happier for your family. A happy family leads to a happy life.
Household traditions don't have to be big to make great and lasting memories for your family.
Participating in household traditions is a way for families to bond, create wonderful memories and have things to look forward to doing again and again. All too often, parents think that they must make grand gestures in order to create happy memories and lasting household traditions. This could not be further from the truth. Often what impresses our children and creates lasting memories for our children are things that cost little money. At the same time, there is nothing wrong with having family traditions that cost a lot of money and are extravagant in nature. The best household traditions are custom-made for each family. By way of example, I will share a few household traditions that my family and I enjoy. Check out this list and see what you think of them:
- ice cream at Wendy's after ballet recitals
- Saturday YouTube day
- Cheese and meat platters for New Years Day
- Compliment Day

Use Your Technology in A New Way at Home

It is fantastic to find ways to use your technology to make life easier at home by using some tricks from work.
Most people who have smart phones for work are used to using the phones
to text and have video conferences. The phones are seen as part of
their lives and as a way to communicate better with everyone in the
workplace. Those same communication, time-saving, and efficiency tools
make life easier at home.
Naysayers -Tell Them To Shut Up

It is terrific to realize that you can control the naysayers in your life by telling them to shut up! In all my roles including: wife, mother, advisor ad writer I am always a cheerleader. Anyone who has a dream can always count on me to push them toward their dreams and to believe they can reach the stars. It costs me nothing to believe in the power of another person's dreams. In fact I gain when I believe in someone else's dreams and help them achieve. The person who gets the benefit of my pushing and cheerleading gains support and an accountability partner. It is an easy win-win for us both.

Instead of a Word of the Year I Choose a Phrase – Something Inside

It is wonderful to find a word of the year that will motivate you to kick things in gear and do all you need to do to achieve your goals. I am not selecting a word of the year for the new year. Instead, I have embraced a phrase, an idea and even have a theme song to go with it. In the past, I selected a theme song for my business. When I start my work day, I play the song and know it is time to sit at my desk, sip my coffee and work. For the new year, I have selected the phrase, "something inside." This is the phrase that will guide me over the course of the next year.

Super Hero – You Can Do the Work Life Balance

It is fantastic to realize that when it comes to work life balance you can succeed by being your own super hero. When my oldest daughter was a little girl she watched a movie from the Cheetah Girls with words to a song something similar to this:
Sitting alone in a dark dusty cellar
Waiting for somebody
To come and rescue me
I’d rather rescue myself
When I think about all working women do to run businesses, work jobs, manage families and find time for themselves, I am reminded of this song. Almost every day there are articles in blogs, newspapers, magazines and conversations on television about the struggle to balance work and life. After years of research on this topic, I have come to realize there is no quick fix, there is no one size fits all solution.

5 Things You Can Learn About Yourself From a Job Search

It is wonderful to stop and take time to see what you have learned about yourself during a job search. Each day there are thousands of people all over the country conducting a job search. These searches take place online, in person and via traditional classified advertisements. Most people look at the job search process as a way of asking for things and hoping for results. While that is one way of looking at the job search, it is not the only way. You can also look at the job search as a way of learning important things about yourself.
The following is a list of five things you can learn about yourself from the job search:
1. How you handle stress
2. Who you are as a person, as a professional
3. What skills you have that are valuable in the open market

5. Where is your area of geographic comfort for work and home

3 Reasons to Accept Compliments and 5 Ways to Start
It is thrilling to know that it is possible to accept compliments with dignity and grace. Recently, over the course of two days I gave four different entrepreneurs compliments about how they were operating their businesses and great ideas they had for business ventures. Each of these women failed to accept the compliment. Instead, to a woman, each downplayed her accomplishment or pointed out ways things could be better. This made me sad. These were wonderful, accomplished, successful women who deserved the compliments I gave them. Each one behaved as if she did not deserve the compliments and kind words.
Here are five reasons failing to accept compliments with dignity and grace is a bad thing:

Cops, Ni****s, Squirrels and Hope

It is terrific to have hope because sometimes, hope is all you have. When the grand jury decision not to indict Darren Wilson for any crime connected with the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, MO was announced, I was sitting with my eleven year old son in the living room. Before the decision was announced, my son said that officer would not get indicted because police do not get indicted for shooting unarmed black men, period. Like most people, we have followed what has been going on in Ferguson since Michael Brown was killed in August of 2014. When the verdict was announced, I immediately thought of an essay by Marcus McGhee called “An Essay on Niggers and Squirrels.” He says his grandfather told him that he saw white men go to jail for hunting squirrels out of season, but he never saw a white man go to jail for killing a black man.

Take Action Now and Appreciate Your Ability

It is magnificent to take action now with a good appreciation for your ability. Almost every person on earth has plans, dreams and things they want to accomplish. However, something stops most people from doing what needs to be done. One of the reasons people do not take action now and do what they need to do is that they doubt their ability. Lack of confidence in one’s ability has caused more dreams to be deferred than almost anything else. The silver lining in all this is that if you fail to take action now because you doubt your ability you can turn things around and start to move forward and accomplish your goals. Jesse Jackson once said, “If your mind can conceive it and your heart can believe it, you can achieve it.” This statement is key to the idea that you should take action now and have a good appreciation for your abilities.

What Inspires You – Find Your Inspiration

You can find serenity by discovering what inspires you. Inspiration is often defined as the process of being mentally stimulated to do something or to feel something. Inspiration is often thought of in relation to something creative. When I think of inspiration, I think of something that gives a little push to someone to get them to take a leap. It is important to find out what inspires you to do your best and move forward. Sometimes, life gets hard and when it does, work must continue, life must continue, family responsibilities must continue. Perhaps it is when life gets hard inspiration is most crucial. When life is hard and you are afraid, you must put on your big girl panties and your fake it until you make it dress, dig deep, find your inspiration and move. More »
5 Ways to Achieve Work Life Balance

It is fantastic to know you can balance work if you organize your life the right way. Almost every day I field questions from friends, associates or co-workers about how to balance work, home and everything. They wonder how I am able to keep all the balls in the air. Often they are looking for the magic bullet or secret potion that makes balance possible and easy. The fact is, there is no magic bullet, no secret potion. If you want to balance work and home it is hard, but it can be done. It is a matter of making hard choices, accepting that and sticking to the choices you make.
Here are five tools I use to balance things and keep it all together.
1. Use the calendar on your smart phone and set alarms.
2. Make a plan that includes your family.
3. Tell your family that they must respect your work hours.
4. Tell clients and co-workers they must respect your personal time.
5. Respect the schedule you create.
7 Steps to Take Action Now Even if You Don’t Like It

It is magnificent to take action now and learn how to work with things you do not like. One of the main reasons people do not take action now is because they do not like the things they have to do. In some cases, the dislike is so strong that one avoids acting all together. A reality of life is that sometimes we have to deal with things, people and situations we do not like. When those times come, you cannot simply sit still and not act, you must take action now and get things done.

Power – What Is It Good For

It is terrific to learn that power can be used for good and does not have to be used to hurt those around you. One definition of power found in *** Dictionary is the |”ability or capacity to do something,” “control or dominion or a position of control, dominion or authority,” and “a person who exercises control, influence or authority.” These definitions, in and of themselves are not inherently negative, harmful or bad. This means that neither power itself or the exercise of power should be seen as negative or something to avoid or fear. Many people have heard the expression, “power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” This means that it is not power itself that is the problem, but how one uses power that causes problems. Take Action Now and Appreciate Your Plans

It is magnificent to take action now and show your plans some appreciation. Almost everyone has heard the expression, “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” As a result, each day people sit down and plan what they will do, when they will do it and with whom they will do it. There is often joy in the planning process and with gathering organizing and planning devices, penciling in appointments and writing plans in pen and adding the plans to various electronic devices. Do not plan in vain, the best show of appreciation you can give your plans is to take action now and get them done. More »
