Scripture

Isaiah 1 to Isaiah 13

Observations

1 God is not interested in vain sacrifices, He wants obedience and will reward it

2 In the last days, God will judge the people and will give what is due

3 God judges and will punish the disobedience

4 At the end the city of God will be beautiful and those who are left will enjoy it

5 Those who are right in their eyes only will suffer destruction in the last days

6 God will allow the wicked to be foresaken and their cities to be devastated

7 The virgin birth of Jesus is foretold

8 Those who love God find him to be a sanctuary, those who do not, find him to be a stumbling block

9 More foreshadowing of the birth of Christ and how magnificent He will be

10 When Christ comes he shall carry burdens and break yokes

11 Because of their relationship to Christ, enemies will be able to sit together in peace

12 God had done wonderful things and his reputation is known throughout the world

13 God’s anger can move the very earth itself and he can destroy or bless as the situation requires

　

Application

This group of scriptures reminds me that the end of time is coming. All people will face the end of time. We will either die or be raptured away to God, either way, we will see God. Since we will all see God one day, we need to be prepared. God is prepared to see us. He is ready to judge and mete out the appropriate gift/punishment for our lives. Since our meeting with God is inevitable and cannot be postponed, rescheduled or canceled, we need to prepare for the meeting. God has given us His word so that we can follows his commandments and live according to His Word.

　

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for all things. Thank you for waking me up clothed in my right mind with my family. Please help me to study your word and find out the proper way to behave so that I can be pleasing in your site and a proper example to my family. In Jesus name I pray, Amen

Observations

3 There is a time for everything and what God creates lasts forever

4 It is better fo two to work together toward a goal

5 It is better not to make a promise than to make a promise and break it

6 One should be satisfied rather than constantly seeking after wanting things

7 Do not be quick to anger because that is the action of a fool

8 There is power in the word of God

9 Wisdom is better than strength

10 It is folly to follow the foolish

11 Wisdom will show you when to do things

12 Remember God when things are going well

Love letters back and forth between Solomon and his love

Application

This group of scriptures reminds me that as Christian spouses, we are also lovers and should look after those we love and do what we can to keep them happy and interested in us. Solomon and his love shared long and beautiful letters of love and likewise we as Christian married folks should do the same.

　

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for all things. Thank you for waking me up clothed in my right mind with my family. As always, God, I ask you to help me be a bter wife an dmother so that I can be useful to my family. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Observations

20 Don’t try to pay back evil doers, but wait on the Lord to take care of the matter

21 It is better for a man to live on a roof than in a house with a brawling woman

22 Famous phrase, " Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."

23 Solomon warns his son to follow his laws and to stay away from strange women who will lead them to sin.

24 Solomon warns not to be envious of evil doers or envious of their reward

25 Solomon advises to kill them with kindness rather than reciprocate

26 Solomon discusses the behavior of fools

27 Solomon advises not to count on the future based upon things on earth because they pass away and change

28 Solomon contrasts the wise and the wicked

29 Solomon contrasts the wise and the foolish

30 Solomon discusses rules of propriety

31 The qualities of a virtuous woman

Application

This section of scriptures contains my favorite passage from the bible Proverbs 31: 10-31. This is my favorite passage because it tells you how to be the perfect woman, a virtuous woman. Everyday I think of or read that passage and try to apply it in my life. I want so much to be virtuous and righteous and thought of well by God.

　

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for all things. Help me to be a virtuous woman, a woman that is pleasing in your site. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Proverbs 7 to Proverbs 20: 1 - 21

Observations

7 Solomon tells his sons to keep the commandments and laws and to look at wisdom as a sister or kinswoman

8 Solomon describes wisdom as what kings use to wise, as better than riches and as a good foundation

9 Solomon describes fear of the Lord as the beginning of wisdom

10 Solomon compares wisdom a good thing to foolishness a bad and destructive thing

11 Solomon talks about how important integrity is and how God hates dishonesty in anything

12 Solomon says that a person who loves instruction loves knowledge and discusses the various ways virtual behavior is pleasing to God

13 Solomon compares good men to wicked men

14 Solomon describes the wise and righteous as those who build good houses and the wicked and foolish as those who build houses that fall and will not stand

15 Solomon describes righteous behavior and how it is pleasing to God and how the wicked are an abomination to God

16 Solomon discusses how men think all their ways are good, but God knows the true measure of man. God knows the heart which can deceive others, but not God.

17 Solomon continues to compare foolish and wise behavior and advises us to be happy because a merry heart does good like medicine. And wisdom leads to happiness.

18 Solomon talks about the power of the tongue which shows the goodness or badness of the heart and thus of the man

19 Solomon describes how the righteous please god and seek God’s counsel which is strong and how the lazy, scornful an d wicked waste resources

20 Solomon describes the characteristics of people tha make them wise or foolish

　

　

Application

In this group of scriptures Solomon seems to extol the virtues of wisdom and talks about wisdom will get a person riches, happiness and more importantly, favor with God. This group of scriptures reminds me that in all my getting, I need to get wisdom. I need to constantly ask God for wisdom and advice on how to make wise decisions. Wisdom starts with fear of God. I have that part covered. I now need to work on the rest of the wisdom picture. I need to get wisdom so that I can run my home and business properly and have better interactions with the other people in my home and the world.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank you for all things. I thank you for giving me your word so that I can study and read and learn about you. Lord please help me to continue to read and study. Help me to hide your word in my heart so that I can be righteous in your site. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

135 David says to praise God because he is good

136 David says to give God thanks and recites the reasons he deserve thanks

137 David says that the people cried when they remembered the old days

138 David says he will praise God with his whole heart and God gives respect to the lowly and does not know the proud

139 David says that God knows everything about him and then God will always lead him even if David goes to heaven

140 David prays for deliverence from his enemies

141 Davis cries to God for help and says it would be a kindness for the righteous to smite im

142 David said he cried to God for help, to get his soul out of prison and said God would deal with him bountifully

143 David asks God to hear his prayer and not judge him

144 David says man is so insignificant that God need not consider him and that people who have God are happy

1 The Proverbs of Solomon - the fear of God is the beginning of knowledge

2 Solomon says that understanding God leads to wisdom with wisdom comes knowledge which is pleasant

3 David says not to forget to keep God’s commandments and that God corrects those he loves

4 Solomon said to get wisdom and understanding and that wisdom was above all else

5 Solomon said his sons should pay attention to wisdom

6 Solomon lists 7 things God hates: a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that kill the innocent, a heart that plans wicked things, people running to trouble, a liar and a person who creates confusion among his brothers

　

Application

These scriptures show two famous servants of God, David and Solomon praising God and telling others to listen to the wisdom of God, stating that God is faithful and true to his people.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank You for being my Lord and Savior. I thank You for all Your mercy and kindness. God help me to seek your wisdom and find it. In Jesus name I pray, Amen

Observations

109 David asks that God give him peace and reward the evil of his enemies with evil

110 David says God told him David would sit at the right hand of God and his enemies would be judged by God

111 David says he will praise God and that the works of God will be known forever

112 David says he will praise the Lord and that those who praise the Lord will be blessed and the wicked will see them and be grieved

113 David says to praise the Lord and that the Lord can raise up the poor to greatness

114 David says that even the rivers and the earth are bowed back by the might and power of God in God’s people

115 David says that glory should be given to God and not the people of God

116 David says he loves God because when death was all around, God saved him

117 David says praise god because his merciful kindness and truth lasts forever

118 David tells the people to give thanks to God because God is good and will always be there and that David will exalt and praise God

119 David gives an alphabet of prayers and praise to God

120 David says he cried out for God and God heard him when he was surrounded by warring enemies

121 David says he looks to the hills where help was and God was there to deliver him

122 David says he was glad when he was called into the house of God because there he could seek God’s goodness

123 David says he will look to the heavens for mercy

124 David says that if it had not been for God he would have been defeated by his enemies

125 David says that those who trust in God shall be as unmovable as mountains

126 David says those that sow to God in tears shall reap in joy

127 David says that if God does not bless the efforts of the workers, the work is in vain

128 David says that those who fear the Lord will be blessed in all ways

129 David says his enemies have come against him many time but when he called on God, God helped him

130 David says he called on God when he had done wrong and from the depths of despair, God heard him

131 David says to God that David is not haughty and tat the people should put their hope in God

132 David asks God to remember David now that David is in trouble and needs help

133 David says it is good for brothers to live together in peace and harmony

134 David tells the people to bless God because God made heaven and earth

Application

What stands out in my mind about this group of scriptures is the fact that David praises God in all things. He praises God when he is blessed and David praises God when he is afflicted. David recognizes that sometimes he has done wrong and deserves the punishment or trouble that he has. But David also realizes that God is still his father and that if David calls on God, God will answer him. David knows that if he humbles himself, seeks Gods face, turns from his wicked ways and prays, God will hear David and restore him. This is something all of us could stand to do - praise God in all things and remember that even when you have done wrong and your enemies or circumstances fill you with sadness and despair, call on God and God will answer you, save you and protect you.

　

Prayer

Heavenly Father, as always I thank you for all the things you have done, so many things in so many ways that it is impossible to count. Lord I humble myself and lay before you seeking your face, turn from my sinful ways, turn from my wrong doing and pray. I pray that you use me as you see fit. I pray that you help me to see your vision for my life. I pray that you help me to be what you want. I pray that when people see me, my life, my blessings and how I have overcome that they do not see me but see you in me. I pray that people see the God in me and want to get closer to you. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

69 David asks God to save him from drowning, literally and figuratively drowning in his sin

70 David asks God to help him quickly

71 David says he trusts God and asks God to deliver him

72 David asks God to help the king and to guide the king is his work

73 David said God was good to the people but he was sinful and wrong and God will still guide him now that he asks

74 Davis asks god not to deliver the people into the hands of their enemies, but protect them

75 David asks God to deliver and help him

76 David says God is known and should be feared

77 David says he cried out to God for help and God remembered him

78 David discusses the words of God

79 David talks about how his enemies are coming against him and need help

80 David asks God to come back and help the people

81 David tells the people to sing praises to God, their strength

82 David says God stands in the congregation and asks him to help the people

83 David asks God not to be still, not to hold his peace

84 David says God is a friendly house and asks God to hear his prayers

85 David said God has been kind and forgiving to the people

86 David asks God to listen to him and says that God is present in trouble and great in mercy

87 David says glorious things are spoken about by God

88 David says he has cried out to God day and night

Application

What this group of scriptures brings to mind is the fact that David did not waiver in his faith, his belief and his trust in God. Even when David sinned and turned against God, David knew that God was God, the all knowing and all powerful. David always knew God was worthy of praise, thanksgiving, and mercy.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for being my Lord and Savior. Thank You for being always present, always forgiving, an always being present in my life. Lord I thank You because You are magnificent and kind and caring and all that I ever need. For all these reasons and more, I thank you and praise you. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
